My Food Blog Idol: Jane Go of SugarGoSpice.com

It was almost a year since I last touched on my food blog, roughly because I feel that I don't have the gadget to work with all the photos or I wasn't too inspired to add watermarks just to make this photos my own. It was just lately when I discovered the food blog of Jane Go, aptly entitled Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice at www.sugargospice.com

Miss Jane is a wonderful mom to 3 teens and a wife of 20 years to the man who she considers as her soulmate. She makes sure to at least religiously post her food adventures and staycations at almost everyday (something I could not have thought of doing but I do) and I love to read about her adventures everyday. For me she is one great blogger you should not miss. Her adventures with KTG and her personal notes on Jana, Jonah and Jena (okay Jela too) make it not just a food blog but a personal blog as well.

A Date at Tokyo Bubble Tea TriNoma

Me and my friend, Krish planned so many times as early as last year to meet up, I mean, we were used to seeing each other in college so often but we've lead to separate lives after graduation. It was just last Saturday when we both agreed to meet up (impromptu!) in TriNoma.

2 hungry tummies were lead to Tokyo Bubble Tea in TriNoma. Honestly, before this meet up I have not tried eating there yet so this is more like a first for me (and I secretly wished that time that Krishel would be extremely happy after this).

That afternoon's gorgeous date of mine, my college classmate, Krishel Tiangco

Two refreshing drinks for us in Strawberry Black Tea (Krishel) and Chocolate Milk Tea for me (since I told myself I won't eat cake which I later on didn't intend of doing... *sigh*)

Fish Katsudon (for me) priced at P 225

When I try to go out, I do my best to eat fish and chicken rather than the usual beef spree I get from school. Here is something I ate which presentation wise made it look more tempting. (mmm).

Beef Gyudon (for Krishel) priced at P 195

Tokyo Bubble tea is also one with Honeybee Patisserie for their cakes, please do ask what is available as not all cakes are available often. It was Krishel who ordered the cake at first which she let me try (thus the nasayang ang pagpipigil at kumain din ng cake thought)

Roasted Cocoa Mousse (priced at 100)

Krishel: Mars, subukan mo
Me: <kuha, kain> Wow, sarap... Ate, menu please?

So in the end, I still obliged on eating a dessert. Hello calories!

Red Velvet Cake (priced at P 95)

I still believe that I am a big red velvet fan, which is why I tried this, it is actually big for sharing (thank you Mars for influencing me)

My overall experience was actually fantastic for a first timer, even if the Bubble Tea branch in TriNoma is smaller than the places I've seen, it is something that I would look forward to going to TriNoma.

To good food and great friendships, Thank you for that day Mars and thank you for making it extremely special Tokyo Bubble Tea - TriNoma Branch.

Dimsum Break Recto: Anniversary Buffet - Eat All You Can at P 99

Having been around the university belt as an employee opened my doors to various cuisines, one of them is the affordable Chinese Dimsum in Dimsum Break. Located in the heart of Nicanor Reyes Street, Sampaloc Manila, Dimsum Break Recto offers its 1st Anniversary Blowout with an Eat-All-You-Can from 4PM onwards.

Choose from the Original Steamed Fried Rice, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Pancit Canton, Wanton, Sweet and Sour Beef Balls and Buchi. Yes, it is not extensive but it is something that fits the budget especially if you would want to go for an early dinner.

Let's try it there shall we?

Toned down eating? No No at Vikings!

Hello there! I am back, I miss writing for my food blog. Well, this is not actually a complete review, I haven't had the chance to go all out. Will just share to you my recent birthday "buffet plates" and Vikings was just the best choice.

This was a little bit of everything, chapchae, lengua, seafood quiche and mexican fried rice (mmm!), I would like to consider myself as a heavy rice eater -- ask my office mate/school mate Jeff and he will tell you (glad to walk during lunch breaks)

This was my sushi plate and mushroom soup - I like the texture of their soup it is pretty much different from those canned soups I usually eat.

So there, Vikings is not really the place for you to tone down eating. There are a lot of sections and I am looking forward to another day there.

My New Food Blogging Gadget

I haven't really touched my food blog of all the other blogs I currently maintain for the past few weeks, no don't get me wrong, I still eat out with my fam or friends but I haven't had the gadget that will make me snap photos easily. I usually do my reviews using my Galaxy Tab 8.9, only to realize that it is too bulky to snap and it will seem odd flashing a big tab for food photos.

This phone was a birthday gift from my mom (I am turning 22 in a few days time), I've only tried taking a photo with me and my mom on it and I could say it serves the purpose. I use it for browsing emails and food blogs (my favorites are the blogs of Michy, Sumi and the Pickiest Eater.

I hope this would inspire me to blog. Anything to share about the Lenovo Ideapad S720?

Quick Review: Nissin Pasta Express Creamy Carbonara

I am not a professional cook, but I love to eat which is why when Nissin had a new line called Pasta Express, I didn't hesitate to try it. A personal favorite is the Carbonara (there's the Filipino Style Spag)

Even it came out soggy after cooking (I followed the package directions), it taste real good for a quick carbonara fix (though I still love my parents version all the time) and for P 10.00++ a pack, who would not say no?

InstaPhoto: Cheesecake Original at S&R

I am back to regular programming with my blog so even if this is a late post, I would like to venture you out to one of the desserts I have tried at S&R just recently, their cheesecake.

Amongst their trays of dessert, this original cheesecake (priced at P 99) is not too sweet for a cheesecake, works well as a dessert after eating their Caesar Salad (priced at P 169).

Mich's Random Food Blogging Thoughts

My unehanced photo of the food I ate at Chili's.
I call myself a passionate writer, but definitely, I've always felt the need to learn a lot when it comes to food blogging.

I have started Lafang Adventures two years back, that time, I do not know how serious I would be when it comes to food blogging. All I know, I loved to eat -- therefore, I document it with my photos and tell my story of the places I go and visit.

My photos are taken with my Samsung GT-P7300, I bring it when I go out with the fam, above is the example of the photo I took, this one was from the lunch combo of Chili's. I used to think that I had great photos, until I saw other food blogs who take time to do photo editing, adding their own logo to the picture or even providing their watermark. It makes me think why am I not using my editing powers to enhance my picture?

I will not promise anything spectacular, all I know, I want to improve, I want my "viewers" to continue appreciating the littlest things I do, even in food blogging.

Pardon me for the ranting, I do hope you enjoy the things I feature, love you all! :)

Seafood Favorites at Bonchon

I went to my dad's office after work yesterday and boy was I looking forward to eat at Bonchon when my brother asked me he wanted to eat there. I was supposed to order my favorite Bulgogi Rice until I saw the poster of their seafood favorites: I tried the Crispy Shrimp Rice (P125 (solo) and P 145 (with regular iced tea))

Here's the Crispy Shrimp Rice (my order):

The lady manning the counter will ask you if you want it garlic or spicy. I chose to have it spicy and boy am I not disappointed, it is cooked like your favorite Bonchon chicken, spiced just right.

Now I am sure you would want to have a quick treat after all that food, I recommend the Bannoffee Pie Koyo from Bonchon (P 75), perfect way to end a good meal.

What I think of the Chili's Lunch Combo

I spent my holiday last February 25 with my family over food (and malling), our first stop was at Chili's located at Greenhills. The 4 of us (Mom, Kuya, Moi and my brother) had the lunch combo which was their promo until April 14, 2013.

The Menu:

The lunch combo consists of the choice of: soup or salad. I was torn under the main course choices so I ended up choosing what my palette would love: fire grilled chicken, bacon & ranch quesadilla with the soup of the day which is seafood chowder:

My Soup: Seafood Chowder
It was really tasty and my mind was saying: MORE! but this was just their lunch combo size I forgot, I am pleased that this was their soup of the day.

My Main Course: Fire Grilled Chicken Bacon and Ranch Quesadilla.

My order was the downscale version of the full order of this and the fries really filled me up, it wasn't too greasy as what I have expected it to be. The quesadilla was a bit cheesy but I've managed to finish it so I think I can give it an 8. I remembered I used the sauce for my fries instead for my quesadilla.

My mom had her Chicken Club Tacos, my little brother had his big mouth burger bites while my older brother chose the smoked turkey sandwich, I don't have the photos of how they look like but on the part of my mom and my little brother, they loved it, but my older brother had it otherwise, he thinks it was not worth the P 350.

Drinks are of separate order, we had the bottomless iced tea (my extremely unhealthy habit)

Overall, I give my Chili's Lunch Combo dining experience a 9, it was worth paying 350++ for a good lunch and trimmed down calories too. I urge you to try those combos while they are still available.

Do pop me in on what you think after trying it.

Burger Machine's Buy 1, Take 1 Burgers

Nowadays, people have been searching for quality food that is value for every peso you would spend, here's another you should take account of which is present in everybody's childhood: Burger Machine (and their Buy 1, Take 1 Burgers)

Burger Machine's Buy 1 and Take 1 choices are my brother's favorites and I decided to check them out as well, ordering three sets of buy 1 take 1 double chicken burgers.

It was indeed a filling snack to cap a weekend (a long weekend for me), the best part? the double burgers are only P 41.00 (burp!), you can add bacon bits at P 9.00 to have a crunchy taste. Hungry?
go to your nearest burger machine stand right now.

Papa John's Mythical 5 PBA Meals Promo Review

6x9in MYTHICAL5

My family loved dining out - be it in a fancier buffet or in pizza houses, when we heard of the Mythical 5 PBA Meal Promo, we decided to give it a try:

What was in store...
* A large pizza (perfect to feed us 5)
* 2 orders of pasta
* 2 orders of potato wedges
* 5 regular sodas

My dad decided to grab the Diablo Burst and Carbonara as pasta choices. If you're new to Papa John's Diablo Burst is your pasta with a lot of chilli (checking out the Papa John's page... it says it has a lot of chilli peppers.) Carbonara, of course is a heavy favorite, especially with me and my brother.Unfortunately, do not expect much, since this says it's 150 grams, with our heavy appetite (I am not afraid to say that), I could finish the 2 orders.

Papa John's Best-Selling Pizza is the Super Papa's which has pepperoni, italian sausage, ham, onions and green bell peppers.

The Potato Wedges? It was almost gone when I came, I believe it was really tasty.

Overall: It was worth the money we paid, but if your appetite is as big as ours, it won't fit you (even if it says its good for 5), if you would like to have an extra order, try this:

Specialty pizzas 2

Papa John's Mythical 5 PBA Meals Promo is until March 15, 2013.
